My Face x ITEM Beauty
You already know just how much I love my makeup—I mean, I practically wrote a novel about my affinity for makeup in a prior blog post—, and how many different makeup products I’ve cycled through in order to find the ones that work best for me and my sensitive skin. After, what felt like, an infinite number of years, and way too many “failed” purchases, I was ultimately able to find makeup products that helped me to create my desired everyday look: simple, natural-looking, but with an inherent depth and a slight edge.
However, in spite of my makeup “success story”, I’ve always continued to keep my eyes open and in search of beauty products—either newly-released or existing but from a newly established makeup brand—that could enhance my go-to look.
With more days spent at home than any of us could have expected over the past year and a half, I found the ~vision~ behind my go-to look changing on a, somewhat, frequent basis. Some days I would opt for a fully made-up look (eyeliner, mascara, foundation, matte powder-the whole nine yards), while others I would opt for a look that was “simpler” …in terms of the face, more than with the eyes…and since I don’t typically use foundation and concealer within the same look, I found myself opting for my cream-based concealer on those days that I wanted to work with less.
However, for quite some time, as well, I’ve been looking into transitioning over to a liquid concealer…something that would be “lighter” than a full-on foundation, but maybe more consistent in application (goes on & stays on smooth throughout the day) than I sometimes find a cream-based concealer to be. Believe it or not, this cream-based concealer stick was the one makeup product that remained in my beauty routine without the “clean designation”, and while it’s given everything to my made-up look that I could have wanted it to and more, I’ve been using this same product since I started with concealer, and honestly just felt like it was time for a change.
With that, I recently purchased the Air Hug Concealer, in Shade 110 (fair with warm peach undertones), from ITEM Beauty (the makeup and skincare company of Addison Rae), and in just a few uses, I can already tell that this liquid concealer is the perfect addition to my makeup collection.
For one, this product, as well as all other products under this brand, are considered “clean” beauty products—something that has become important to me, and that I now look for prior to purchasing any makeup or skincare products. The concealer itself is extremely lightweight and easy to blend, all while providing just the right amount of coverage to my face. Not to mention, it comes in 20 different shades…I have extremely fair skin, so it can be difficult, at times, to find a concealer that blends appropriately with my skin tone. However, with both shades and undertones incorporated into each “version” of the Air Hug Concealer, I was able to find, with ease, the form of this concealer that works perfectly with my fair skin tone, as well as the pink-ish undertones that are especially prevalent within my face.
To apply, I lightly line and dot, what I would consider to be, the “bolded” areas of my face (forehead, cheeks, nose, under the eyes…) with the concealer wand, and then blend the applied concealer into my natural skin using a beauty blender sponge. I then “coat” my face with a glow powder in order to set the concealer for the day, as well as add a subtle shimmer to the surface of my skin.
…SO, if you’re looking for some new makeup, or even skincare, products, I would definitely take a look at what ITEM Beauty has to offer. I was honestly surprised with just how quickly and seamlessly the Air Hug Concealer made its way into my go-to makeup lineup, and I’m excited to see what other products from this brand can do the same!
