The Accessory Trend of the Summer
With Labor Day having marked the ~unofficial~ end of the summer season, I wanted to share one last summer style-related post before we begin our transition over to Fall…
If you’re like me, you’re not timely, whatsoever, when it comes to joining in on style trends…and by that, I mean that it takes A LOT for me to actually decide to purchase whatever the item is that’s extremely popular at a point in time. I’ll probably start off disliking it, promising myself that I’ll never give in to this particular trend. However, after seeing the item all over my social media, on every store website, and countless times in my email inbox, that dislike turns to toleration, which then slowly turns to a liking, and, ultimately, becomes a NEED.
…So you can probably picture my reaction when I found out that beaded necklaces were making a comeback this summer—yes, I’m talking about the same type of beaded jewelry that I wore throughout my childhood.
It’s not that I don’t like beaded jewelry, I absolutely loved it when I was younger. I guess I was just surprised to, not only, see these necklaces back again, but also being sold literally everywhere, and seemingly being worn for any and every occasion. As you would probably expect, I let the idea of this accessory comeback sit with me for some time. However, since my original feelings towards this trend would be classified as in the ~liking~ phase of my “coming around” process, it wasn’t too long before these necklaces became something that I really wanted to have again.
I ended up purchasing two beaded floral necklaces while I was on vacation a few weeks ago, and they immediately became a staple in my summer wardrobe. Not only did I wear them every night for the remainder of my trip, but I’ve continued to incorporate them, somewhat seamlessly, into my everyday summer style—Even though I purchased my two necklaces at stores by the beach, you can find these necklaces on the websites of countless clothing and jewelry stores (Revolve, Urban Outfitters, Adina’s Jewels…just a few stores I’ve found with a good selection).
I absolutely love how personal this particular piece of jewelry can be. In my opinion, style is such a powerful form of self-expression, and with countless different color combinations, sizes, and elements of design, these beaded necklaces can provide you with the ability to further express your personality through your wardrobe choices, but all within a single, somewhat casual, accessory. Even better, there really aren’t any “rules” when it comes to matching your beads to your clothing…If you want to match the color of your beads to your outfit, great—I know I prefer to do this!—but if you don’t, the necklaces seem to look perfectly placed regardless.
Now that you know just how fun and versatile beaded necklaces can be, I’m sure you want to get your hands on one, or more, before the summer season officially comes to a close…Trend or not, I believe that beaded accessories will continue to be popular in the summers to come.
